Every
one of us faces the fall in a totally different way because we are
all extraordinarily different people. If you don't know your personality
style yet, take
our quiz to find out. And remember, personality descriptions are
not intended to stuff you in a box, but rather to dust off your wings
so you can really begin to fly!

Summer is well under way and you know by now that this season is vacation
season. And whether you are traveling out of town or you have those out-of-towners
staying with you, it puts a bit of a kink in your chain. You like going
places or you like seeing friends and relatives, but you sure do love your
routine. Can the two mix well like a smooth martini or are you thinking
more along the lines of oil and vinegar salad dressing? Well, no need to
shake the bottle into a frenzy. Vacation is a break from routine, but several
aspects of the routine can be carried along with you. Set aside a bit of
time to do the regular things you enjoy – perhaps reading the paper
or enjoying a cup of tea at the end of the day. And remember that just
because you have visitors, doesn’t mean that you need to put your
life on hold. Your friends and family are there to be a part of your life,
so go ahead and include them. Shopping for groceries? Take them along.
Tidying up? Throw them a broom. They’ll be happy to join in. And
if they’re not, then what are they doing there anyway?!

Summer is here and the living is easy! You love vacations. You can get away
from it all and just enjoy a taste of being footloose and fancy-free. But vacations
can quickly turn sour without proper planning or follow-up. Make a list about
a week before of everything you need to get done before you leave and begin
crossing it off (here’s a hint – you will have enough dirty laundry
when you get home so go ahead and get caught up now). This way, you won’t
be running around scatter-brained looking for the map and your other flip-flop
ten minutes after you were planning to leave. And when you get home, do so
in time to leave a bit of a cushion before you have to jump back into the swing
of things. Give yourself at least a day to get those pictures developed, unpack
and find a place for all of those souveneirs, and (yes) catch up on the laundry.
But do yourself a favor and don’t let anyone know that you’ve returned
(technically, your brain hasn’t yet). Vacations are meant to re-charge
your battery but without proper planning and follow-up you may find yourself
feeling burned up instead.

In the words of those immortal Go-Gos, “Vacation, all I ever wanted.
Vacation, had to get away.” Yes, it’s that time of year and this
is one area where you shine (and I’m not talking about tanning oil).
You plan your vacations so well that you could probably work for a travel agency.
Everything’s packed and ready (maybe even organized by day or event)
and snacks are stowed away in the cooler for the trip. But don’t forget
to enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Not everything has to be planned out. The best trips
often occur when we choose to take an unexpected pathway. Fun lies everywhere
if you just have the nerve to look for it. Talk to a stranger, sample some
exotic delicacies, get sand in your shoes, go shopping with beach hair! And
remember to really feel the vacation. Play with the kids and experience the
moment instead of moving from one event to the next event. Put down the camera
and gaze at your family. Take in all the beauty that so quickly passes by during
your average week. Sometimes the best memories can’t be recorded on film,
but only in the recesses of your mind.

The mercury’s rising and it’s time to hit the road. You
love taking vacations with the family. If there’s fun to be had,
you’re having it! Just keep in mind that not everything turns out
according to our wishes. That romantic dive you found with your hubby
closed down or it decides to rain on the day that you planned to go to
the beach. Remember not to get discouraged. If anyone knows how to make
lemonade out of lemons, it’s you. Be adventurous and try out a
new restaurant (romance has a lot more to do with people than atmosphere),
and who says you can’t go to the beach when it’s raining?
You can play in the rain and have the shore all to yourselves to run,
turn cartwheels, and play Frisbee. A vacation is a state of mind, not
a location. And be good to yourself and do some follow-up after you return
home. Start putting those pictures in the scrapbook now, while the memories
are fresh. Don’t forget to do some journaling alongside the pictures
so that everyone in the family will remember that day that you tried
to catch a wet Frisbee in the rain and it slipped out of your hands and
busted your bottom lip. These are the things you will laugh about later!
